With your first trial lesson….
Controlling a glider is relatively simple and intuitive. Your instructor will take you through all the controls and within minutes you'll be amazed at what you can do. Much of the skill is in reading the thermals as you try to eek out that last bit of flying. Finding the thermals, which are columns of warm air rising is a job for you and the instructor. Often you'll see the birds doing the same thing! If you are lucky enough to fly on a day when the thermals are good the smile you'll come down with will be infectious!
Depending on the school you choose, you will either be winched up into the air (think flying a kite!) or given a tow by a powered aircraft. Both will leave you with a real sense of achievement. If the smile is as big as we think it will be please do one thing for us. Book that second lesson!
